About OHWELL
Hi, my name is Jon, and I am the creator and founder of OHWELL Clothing.
OHWELL began as a personal outlet, a way for me to process and express the trauma I experienced growing up, including physical and mental abuse from my mother. During high school, I carried a lot of anger that I didn’t know how to understand or release. I turned to football, hoping to find mentorship from coaches and a place to channel that aggression. While the sport gave me structure, I quickly realized that not all environments prioritize the mental and emotional well-being of young people. Over time, the aggression I brought onto the field became unhealthy, even toxic, as I found myself willing to hurt others to cope with what I was feeling inside.
Everything began to shift when I discovered a design and technical course at school. That class introduced me to t-shirt design and printing, and for the first time, I found a voice. Instead of bottling everything up, I started designing how I felt. What began as a creative outlet slowly became a purpose.
The name OHWELL comes from the phrase “oh well”, a common expression of acceptance, disappointment, or feeling overlooked. It represents moments in life where we feel forgotten or forced to accept things we cannot change. The brand is also inspired by George Orwell, author of Animal Farm, a story that highlights how easily we can become the very things we once stood against. That message serves as a constant reminder for me to stay grounded in my values and never lose sight of why I started.
My faith as a Christian is deeply connected to this mission as well. Too often, we say “oh well” as a way to settle or accept brokenness. But Jesus' message challenges that mindset. In the Parable of the Lost Sheep, He speaks about leaving the ninety-nine to find the one, demonstrating a relentless, unconditional love that seeks out those who feel lost or forgotten. That kind of love is the foundation of what I want OHWELL to represent.
OHWELL’s mission is to create thoughtful designs that speak to the mind and soul while bringing awareness to mental health. Having experienced abuse and even moments where I questioned my own life, I believe this is more than just a brand—it’s a calling to share hope, healing, and faith through creativity.
The long-term vision for OHWELL is to reinvest proceeds from each sale into building a physical storefront that doubles as a creative workshop. This space will serve as a mental health and design resource for underserved youth in our community. It will offer an alternative outlet beyond sports, a place where young people can safely process their experiences, learn design skills, explore entrepreneurship, and even create and sell their own clothing at no cost. The goal is to empower the next generation with both creative tools and emotional support in an environment where they feel seen, valued, and heard.
At its core, OHWELL is about connection, healing, and love. While my faith in Christ is what guides me and inspires this mission, OHWELL is for everyone. No matter your background, beliefs, or where you come from, you are welcome here. My hope is to build genuine connections rooted in love, compassion, and understanding. Meeting people where they are and walking alongside them with grace.
